TRESPASSING

(TITLE 17-A - MAINE CRIMINAL CODE: PART 2 SUBSTANTIVE OFFENSES; CHAPTER 17, BURGLARY AND CRIMINAL TRESPASS; SECTION 402)

A person is guilty of criminal trespass if, knowing that the person is not licensed or privileged to do so, that person:

  1. Enters any dwelling place
  2. Enters any structure that is locked or barred
  3. Enters any place from which that person may lawfully be excluded and that is posted in a manner reasonably likely to come to the attention of intruders or is fenced or otherwise enclosed in a manner designed to exclude intruders
  4. Remains in any place in defiance of a lawful order to leave that was personally communicated to that person by the owner or authorized person
