Freeport, ME – April 7, 2007 – The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association, announced the 24th Annual Scholarship Program for Maine students pursuing careers in hospitality. The Maine Innkeepers Association has been accepting applications for the scholarship program designed to meet the partial needs of local students currently enrolled in hotel administration or culinary sciences.
“We are delighted to continue the scholarship program that provides support and inspiration to young adults pursuing careers in hospitality,” stated Greg Dugal, Executive Director of Maine Innkeepers Association. “Tourism remains the economic driver for the state and creates opportunities for a wide range of good jobs and rewarding careers in hospitality. We are pleased to be able to support the growing and vital tourism industry in Maine in this way.”
Scholarships are available to Maine residents who have been accepted to fully accredited schools with specialties in hotel administration or culinary sciences, such as Beal College or Southern Maine Technical College, and are pursuing a career in hospitality. Application received by April are reviewed by a selection committee and awards are made based on scholarship merit, employment history, financial need, extra curricular activities and desire to work in hospitality.
