The Maine Innkeepers Association presented the award in recognition of Walsh’s outstanding contributions to the lodging and hospitality industry. Peter Daigle of LaFayette Hotels presented the award to Walsh. “This Special Service Award is made to hotelier Thomas T. Walsh for his lifetime of achievement and lasting impact on Maine’s hotel industry. In 1975 Walsh purchased five hotels in Florida and over the next thirty years successfully developed Ocean Properties Ltd., which now owns or operates more than 100 hotels, commercial shopping centers and apartment complexes.
