FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Rauni Kew 207-602-8500 kewr@glance.net Greg Dugal Executive Director Maine Innkeepers Association (207) 865-6100 JACK DONOVAN AWARDED HALL OF FAME BY MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION Freeport, ME – November 23, 2008 – Jack Donovan was presented with The Maine Innkeepers Association’s Hall of Fame Award at their 87th Annual Meeting & Conference held at Sebasco Harbor Resort, in Sebasco Estates on October 28th. The Maine Innkeepers Association presents this award to retired tourism professionals who have, through hard work and personal involvement, enriched the lodging/hospitality and tourism industry in Maine. Woody Woodward, a board member of the Maine Innkeeper’s Association presented the award to Jack Donovan, thanking him for his ten years of service to the Association. Donovan started his career in 1963 as a night auditor for the Queen City Motel while still attending Husson College. After graduating from college he joined the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and began a 35 year career in education. He became a community educator involved in small and family business forestry –secondary manufacturing. From 1996 to 2003 he owned and operated the Sunset Motel in Old Orchard Beach, and in 2002 purchased an abandoned property in Naples called That Place Cabins. For the next six years he redesigned, and rebuilt the Inn at Naples restoring the original brick colonial into a 4 room B&B with a great room, grand lobby and swimming pool. Donovan served on the Maine Innkeepers Association Board, Executive Committee and was an active member of the Education Foundation Board.
