Mureen McQuade, Hall of Fame Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Rauni Kew 207-602-8500 kewr@glance.net Greg Dugal Executive Director Maine Innkeepers Association (207) 865-6100 MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION AWARDS MAUREEN MCQUADE HALL OF FAME AWARD Freeport, ME – November 23, 2008 – The Maine Innkeepers Association honored Maureen McQuade with their Hall of Fame Award at their 87th Annual Meeting & Conference held at Sebasco Harbor Resort, in Sebasco Estates on October 28th. The Hall of Fame award is presented to a retired tourism professional who has contributed, through personal commitment, to the lodging/hospitality industry in Maine over a period of years. Peter Daigle of Lafayette Hotels presented the award crediting McQuade’s long and successful career in hospitality with her contagious optimism and thoughtful management style. A graduate of Boston University, McQuade began her career at the Bangor Holiday Inn, later forming her own hotel management company, Preferred Management. In 1990 McQuade took over operations at Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, and later purchased the property with business partner Larry Mahaney. McQuade was Innkeeper/owner of the Inn by the Sea for 17 years before retiring. A resident of Cape Elizabeth, McQuade is a past President and Chair of the Maine Innkeepers Association, and in 2007 was awarded the Innkeeper of the Year Award. She also served on the boards of New England Inns and Resorts, Discover New England, and the Marketing Committee of the Maine Office of Tourism, and was an active hospice volunteer. “Maureen’s unfailing passion for our industry over the years is an inspiration to Maine Innkeepers,” stated Daigle.
