The award is presented to an allied member of the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) who is active in the hospitality industry and has made a significant contribution to the lodging industry in Maine. Jane leBrun from Cross Employees Benefits presneted Peter Schultz, owner and co- founder of Dirigo Stitching with the award, thanking him for the company’s long standing support of the hospitality industry. Peter Schultz and Chic Schiraldi incorporated Dirigo Stitching in Skowhegan in 1979, and began building their business using employees from Sunrise Drapery. Later, Ed Cowan joined the company, and after learning the business from the ground up, became a valuable asset to both the company and the industry. Together with Starla Fortin, Dirigo’s VP and contract operations expert, they have guided the company to success as a supplier of bed and window treatments, all made in Maine, to the lodging industry. “Dirigo is always there for the Association,” stated Dugal. “Their generosity includes a role in the Maine Innkeeper’s Education Foundation.
