FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Rauni Kew 207-602-8500 kewr@glance.net Greg Dugal, Executive Director 207-602-8500 Maine Innkeepers Association Pat Eltman, Director of Maine Office of Tourism Awarded Maine Innkeepers Association Special Service Award for 2009 Freeport , Maine December 4, 2009…..Pat Eltman, Director of the Maine Office of Tourism, was presented with the Special Service Award for 2009 by the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) at their 88th Annual Meeting & Conference held at Atlantic Oceanside Hotel in Bar Harbor, on November 3, 2009. This award is presented to an active lodging operator, an allied member or any other person in the lodging /hospitality/ tourism industry who has contributed to the improvement of the industry as a whole. Eltman, the Director of the Maine Office of Tourism for the past three years, has supported the efforts of the Maine Innkeepers Association. The lodging industry made the award to thank Eltman not only for her contributions on behalf of lodging properties throughout Maine, but also for those made to help the entire industry that comprises tourism in the State. Eltman has been helpful as a motivational leader with legislative issues impacting hospitality with a great understanding of the process having been chief of staff for three House Speakers. She has been instrumental in state presidential campaigns and Governor John Baldacci’s successful re-election campaign. During her tenure as Director of the Office of Tourism she has overseen new research resulting in dynamic marketing campaigns for the state.
