Live Auction Supports Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation

The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation scholarship program, now in its tenth year, was designed to offer partial support and encourage Maine students pursuing careers in culinary sciences or hospitality. MEIA is very pleased to offer support to students in pursuit of hospitality careers ”, said Dugal. “2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the Maine Innkeepers Association Education Foundation, and this auction helps guarantee scholarships will continue to go to worthy students in the foreseeable future. Applications for scholarships are reviewed by a selection committee. Any Maine resident who has been accepted to a fully accredited school with specialties in hotel administration or culinary sciences and is pursuing a career in hospitality are encouraged to apply for a scholarship award ranging from $500 to $2500. Awards are made based on scholarship merit, employment history, financial need, extracurricular activities and desire to work in hospitality. More than 210 Maine students have been awarded over $140,000 in scholarships.
