Woody Woodward of Highland Lake Resort WIns 2012 MEIA Innkeeper of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Rauni Kew 207-602-8500 Greg Dugal, Executive Director Maine Innkeepers Association (207) 865-6100 MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION HONORS WOODY WOODWARD OF HIGHLAND LAKE RESORT 2012 INNKEEPER OF THE YEAR AWARD Freeport Maine, November 24, 2012……Woody Woodward was honored with the 2012 Innkeeper of the Year Award by the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) at their 91st annual meeting and conference, held November 5-6, 2012 at the Grand Summit Resort and Conference Center in Newry, Maine. Woodward received the award from Peter Daigle of Lafayette Hotels. This prestigious award is made annually to recognize an active Innkeeper who has significantly contributed to the development of the Maine Innkeepers Association. The inscription on the award read: “To an Innkeeper who truly puts service above self. Woody is a great leader for our Association, but has accomplished so much more as a community leader for many years in Bridgton and in the State of Maine. Add to that a wonderful sense of humor and you can see why Woody is our choice.” Woodward started his first business at the age of 17 and incorporated it at 20. He has had a varied career including employment as a magician, deputy sheriff, police officer, owner of a promotional marketing and events agency and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation of Maine. Woodward’s career in the lodging industry began in 1997, when he and his wife Deanna became Innkeeper/Owners of Highland Lake Resort. Woodward has served on the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) Board of Directors for almost ten years and served as President in 2010 and 2011. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board or Past President and is Treasurer of the MEIA Education Foundation. Woodward has served his Community of Bridgton on the Board of Selectman, and is currently serving as board chair until 2015.
