ALLYSON CAVARETTA, OF MEADOWMERE RESORT IN OGUNQUIT AWARDED COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD FOR 2013 BY
MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION
Freeport Maine, November 20, 2013…… Allyson Cavaretta of the Meadowmere Resort in Ogunquit was honored with the 2013 Community Service Award by the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) at their 92nd annual meeting and conference, held November 6-7, 2013 at the Doubletree Hotel in South Portland. The Maine Innkeepers Association Community Service Award is presented annually to lodging operators who have taken part in community activities, and who have made a contribution personally, or in the name of the industry or property, to the community.
The award reads: Allyson is consistently involved with providing volunteer leadership and generous contributions to many worthy and notable causes including our very own Hospitality for Habitat. She has been active with her local chamber and our Association among many other charitable endeavors.
The Meadowmere Resort is extremely environmentally conscious and was one of the first properties in Ogunquit to receive the Environmental Leader Award from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, and in 2013 was awarded the Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award. Cavaretta received a grant from the USDA to install a state-of-the-art commercial solar thermal hot water system to preheat a significant portion of the domestic hot water for the building.
The Meadowmere Resort participates in the Hospitality for Habitat program and has
consistently raised funds that contribute to the association’s donation of approximately $17,000 for Habitat for Humanity each year. Cavaretta has personally served on the Board of Directors of the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce, the Friends of the Winn House, and been very active with the Friends of the Ogunquit Heritage Museum and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. Other favorite causes for the Meadowmere include the One Fund of Boston, York County Shelter Program, the American Heart Association, and Hurricane Sandy relief efforts through the American Red Cross.
