MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION HONORS SARAH DIMENT OF BEACHMERE INN, OGUNQUIT WITH 2013 INNKEEPER OF THE YEAR
Freeport Maine, November 20, 2013……Sarah Diment of the Beachmere Inn in Ogunquit was honored with the 2013 Innkeeper of the Year Award by the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) at their 92nd annual meeting and conference, held November 6-7, 2013 at the Doubletree Hotel in South Portland. This prestigious award is made annually to recognize an active Innkeeper who has significantly contributed to the development of the Maine Innkeepers Association.
The inscription on the award read: To an Innkeeper who has been instrumental with her assistance in the marketing efforts of the Association. Sarah is always on the cutting edge of technology and is a pioneer in Maine’s lodging industry in the art of social media. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Diment is a fifth generation Innkeeper and has been an active member of the MEIA board, working on the marketing committee, and posting news to the association’s facebook page. Diment travelled to Washington DC to advocate for small and seasonal business and their access to H2B visa workers, testifying before the House Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access on behalf of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
Diment graduated from Proctor Academy in New Hampshire, then went on to University of New Hampshire and worked in the summer in Australia at the Sheraton Hotel. She later received her MBA at Colorado State at Fort Collins.
Diment helped oversee addition of rooms and renovations built to LEED specification, which included a large solar array for the Beachmere Inn in 2005. Diment lives in Cape Neddick with her husband and two sons.
