Erica Jackson of Oxford Maine Receives Scholarship from
Maine Innkeepers Association Education Foundation
Freeport, ME – June 23, 2014 –Erica Jackson of Oxford, Maine was awarded a scholarship by The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) at the tenth annual Tees & Textbooks event held June 9th and 10th 2014, at the Samoset Resort in Rockport , announced Greg Dugal, President and CEO at MEIA.
Jackson received the Maine Innkeepers Memorial Award of $1000. which was sponsored by the Giri Hotel Group. Jackson accepted the scholarship from Kristina Boudreau. The award honors the memory of two Innkeepers, Timothy Watts and George MacPhail.
Jackson will be attending the University of Southern Maine, in Portland, in the fall. She has hospitality experience having been employed at the Poland Spring Resort. Her long term goal after graduation is to one day be General Manager of a hotel.
“It is wonderful that our membership has once again risen to the occasion and exceeded last year’s contributions to the Maine Innkeeper’s Education Foundation,” stated Dugal. “Our industry remains committed to offering support to Maine students, and we hope many of them will remain in Maine with careers in hospitality.”
Scholarships were awarded after review by a selection committee who considered scholastic records, financial need, extracurricular activities and a desire to work in hospitality to Maine students enrolled at fully accredited schools with specialties in culinary arts or hotel administration. This includes hospitality schools in the State University System, private Universities or Colleges, and Maine Community College Systems. Non- hospitality awards may also be available to employees and their families or family members of innkeepers. Maine Innkeeper’s Association Education Foundation is a 501c3 charity.
