FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Sara Brazer Brazer Communications (860) 354-5260 Greg Dugal, Executive Director Maine Innkeepers Association (207) 865-6100 THE MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS TODAY’S HERO’S PARADE IN PORTLAND Freeport, ME – April 8, 2005 – The Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA), a leading provider of information and support to the lodging and tourism industry of Maine, is pleased to announce that some of its members are participating in Portland’s celebrations this weekend, to welcome home thousands of Maine’s soldiers who are returning from Iraq. The celebrations also honor Maine’s previous war veterans, Police and Fire Departments. Many of the returning service men and women can’t afford a hotel room due to financial losses during their time overseas, so hotels and inns around the Portland area have kindly offered rooms at discounted prices to the veterans and their families. Several MEIA members have gone above and beyond this level of generosity, and have donated rooms to the service men and women. These hotels include: Captain Briggs House B&B, Freeport; Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, Portland; Freeport Comfort Suites; Best Western Merry Manor Inn, South Portland; Portland Harbor Hotel; Holiday Inn West, Portland; Freeport Hampton Inn; Best Western Freeport Inn; Inn by the Sea, Cape Elizabeth; Down East Village, Yarmouth; and Portland Regency Hotel. “We are so proud of our members for their generosity and help towards these men and women, who might not be able to afford a room for the weekend of festivities,” said Greg Dugal, Executive Director, Maine Innkeepers Association. “It is a relief that our members can do something to help them feel welcome.” About the Maine Innkeepers Association The Maine Innkeepers Association, a leading provider of tourism information to both Maine’s lodging industry and its visitors, represents nearly 800 B&Bs, camps, cottages, hotels, inns, motels and resorts across Maine, and their suppliers.
