FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Sara Brazer Brazer Communications (860) 354-5260 Greg Dugal, Executive Director Maine Innkeepers Association (207) 865-6100 THE MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES THE FIRST ANNUAL BIG EVENT The two-day event will combine the Twenty-first Annual Education Scholarshp Event with the 11th Annual Hospitality Golf Classic Freeport, ME – May 12, 2005 – The Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA), a leading provider of information and support to the lodging and tourism industry of Maine, is pleased to present its first annual Big Event. The two-day event will take place at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, on May 31 – June 1, joining together the Twenty-first Annual Education Scholarship Dinner with the 11th Annual Maine Innkeepers Association Hospitality Golf Classic. The Scholarship dinner will kick off the Big Event with a cocktail hour, followed by the award ceremony; and awards being presented by the benefactors. The evening will continue with a dinner, and wrap up with entertainment from The Odd Company consisting of Mike Miclon, an unparalleled verbal and physical wit and host of the sell-out phenomenon “The Early Evening Show” featured on CBS Sunday Morning; Amanda Huotari, an observer of human obsessions, from the Boston improv comedy troupe “Juice;” and Fritz Grobe, a four-time gold medalist at the International Jugglers' Festival, founder of the dance and juggling ensemble “blink.” The Big Event continues the next day with the 11th Annual Maine Innkeepers Association Hospitality Golf Classic, held at the Samoset Golf Club. Sponsors of the event include Portland Mattress Makers, New England Coffee, and Prudential Northeast Properties, who will once again sponsor hole-in one prizes on the course including a 2004 PT Cruiser valued at $22,000. Tee off is at 9:00 a.m. Tickets for the Scholarship dinner are $50 per person and all proceeds will benefit the Maine Innkeepers Association Education Foundation, which is a 501c3 charity. Tickets for the Golf Classic are $115 for an individual (includes golf, breakfast and lunch), or $445 for a foursome. The deadline to purchase tickets is May 25.
