CAMDEN BUSINESS RECEIVES THE 2005 ALLIED MEMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD FROM THE MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION
Freeport, ME – November 18, 2005 – The Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA), a leading provider of information and support to the lodging and tourism industry of Maine, recently awarded the recipients of this year’s MEIA Members awards at the MEIA 84th Annual Meeting & Conference, which was held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. The Allied Member of the Year Award was given to Tim LaPlante of Prudential Northeast Properties in Camden.
The Allied Member of the Year Award is presented to an allied member of MEIA that is active in the hospitality industry and has made a significant contribution to it on behalf of the supplier community. Prudential Northeast Properties has definitely earned this award with the hard work from employees such as Tim LaPlante.
LaPlante is currently the sales manager of the Lodging and Hospitality Properties Division of Prudential Northeast Properties –specializing in the sale of inns, B&B's, hotels and motels throughout the state of Maine. He also serves as the chairperson of the Allied committee of MEIA and on the board of directors of MEIA, a representative of the Allied members with the Association. Prior to moving to Maine ten years ago, when he purchased an inn in Camden, LaPlante owned several large grocery stores in Canada.
“I am so honored to accept the Maine Innkeepers Association Allied Member Award on behalf of Prudential Northeast Properties,” said Tim LaPlante. “We are really pleased to be working with the Association and its top quality members around the state. We are thrilled to be thought of so highly by our professional peers.”
The following five recognition awards were also presented to MEIA members:
President’s Award – Ron Churchill, Bear Spring Camps, Rome
Hall of Fame Award – Marjie Wright, Bowdoinham
Special Service Award – Carolyn Manson, Maine Tourism Association
Community Service Award – Jan Barrett, Ware Street Inn, Lewiston
Innkeeper of the Year – Gus Tillman, Holiday Inn by the Bay, Portland
