The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation Announces its Twenty-Second Hospitality Scholarship Program
Freeport, ME – April 6, 2006 – The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association – a leading provider of information and support to the lodging and tourism industry of Maine, announced today that it is accepting applications for its “Twenty Second Annual Scholarship Program.” The program, designed to meet the partial needs of Maine students pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, has awarded over $115,000 in scholarship money to 174 recipients since its inception.
Applicants are judged by a selection committee that looks at many different criteria including scholastic record, financial data, extra curricular activities, desire for a career in the hospitality industry, and employment record. Scholarship awards are given only to students who have been accepted to fully accredited schools, with specialties in hotel administration and culinary sciences. These schools include, but are not limited to: all hospitality schools with State University Systems, all private Universities and Colleges, and Maine Technical College System.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue our support to the young adults of Maine who wish to pursue careers in hospitality, and help provide jobs that keep them in Maine, in turn building the growing business of tourism in this state,” said Greg Dugal, Executive Director, Maine Innkeepers Association. “The committee is always amazed by the talents of the scholarship applicants, and we are looking forward to see what the students of Maine have to offer this year,”
All applications are due by April 14, 2006. For more information or an application, please call The Maine Innkeepers Association at (207) 865-6100 or email email@example.com.
