The Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) is pleased to announce that the 95th Annual Meeting & Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. The conference begins on Wednesday November 9 and wraps up on Thursday November 10 with our Awards Dinner. Information on attending the conference has already been sent to you.
Our luncheon keynote speaker on November 10 will be David Shaw, founder and retired CEO of Idexx Laboratories. His program will be Learn to Fly – Exponential Opportunities in an Entrepreneurial World.
Today’s golden age of entrepreneurship and disruptive change creates exceptional opportunity and challenges in many industry sectors including the rapidly growing $7 trillion global market for travel and tourism. David Shaw will share his perspective on success factors in public and private entrepreneurial ventures, including a discussion of the US National Park Service centennial celebration this year.
David Evans Shaw is Managing Partner of Black Point Group with wide-ranging interests in technology companies and public service. His business creation, leadership, investment and board experience includes more than a dozen technology companies including IDEXX Laboratories. Shaw’s public service has included the State of Maine executive department, the faculty of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, Treasurer of AAAS, the world’s largest general science society, chair of The Jackson Laboratory and trustee of the National Park Foundation. He has travelled extensively around the world and has produced dozens of films on his experiences including a feature film for the national park centennial.
