MEIA CEO and President Greg Dugal presented Grotton with the Special Service Award which is given annually to a person who has actively contributed to the hospitality industry as a whole. The award reads: Richard’s accomplishments at the Maine Restaurant Association are legendary. His years of service were highlighted by ensuring the financial success of the association. He has been very supportive to the Maine Innkeepers Association and its Executive Director. Enjoy your retirement! Grotton a Maine native plans to retire at the end of this year having been the President and CEO of the Maine Restaurant Association since 1995. During his twenty years at MERA Grotton has been successful stabilizing and growing the organization. He has also been an active member of the Maine Tourism Alliance and has spent countless hours in Augusta representing the interests of tourism in Maine testifying and helping to pass legislation on the myriad of issues that impact the industry. Grotton is a licensed Maine Emergency Medical Technician and has been an active first responder for the town of Cape Elizabeth as an EMT for Fire and Rescue services for 33 years.
