Weare received the award from Jean Ginn Marvin Innkeeper/Owner at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport. According to MEIA this annual award is presented to a retired tourism professional who over a period of ten years or more contributed though personal involvement and interest to the betterment of the Association and the lodging/hospitality/tourism industry in the State of Maine. Weare is a fourth generation hotelier whose family had owned and operated the Cliff House since 1874. Weare took over in 1974 and was President and Owner until the property sold in 2014. During her tenure as Innkeeper Weare made dramatic changes to the Resort adding a SPA and 75 foot indoor lap pool outdoor infinity pool amphitheatre and banquet facilities. Weare has always been a leader in the hospitality industry recently pioneering solar energy use with the installation of one of Maine’s largest solar thermal projects comprising of 2100 tubes on 70 collectors. She was also one of the original founders and leaders of the Maine Tourism Commission.
