FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact information: Rauni Kew 207-602-8500 Greg Dugal Executive Director Maine Innkeepers Association FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAINE INNKEEPERS ASSOCIATION HONORS JEAN GINN MARVIN OF NONANTUM RESORT WITH 2011 INNKEEPER OF THE YEAR AWARD Freeport Maine November 18 2011……Jean Ginn Marvin of the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunk was honored with the 2011 Innkeeper of the Year Award by the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) at their 90th annual meeting held November 9 2011 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. The award is presented annually to an active Innkeeper who has significantly contributed to the development of the Maine Innkeepers Association. Marvin received the award from Bob Smith of Sebasco Harbor Resort. Marvin’s career in hospitality began in 1999 when she was named Director of Sales at The Nonantum. After 5 years in that position she was promoted to her current job as Innkeeper. She has served on the executive committee of the Maine Innkeepers Association and on the board of New England Inns and Resorts. Marvin also serves on the President’s Advisory Council at SMCC is a former Town Councilor in Cape Elizabeth as well as a former Representative to The Maine Legislature and has been a member of several Cape Elizabeth town commissions. Marvin credited much of the success the Nonantum Resort has achieved to the dedication of the hotel staff and her General Manger Tina Hewitt. Marvin a resident of Cape Elizabeth has chaired the Southern Maine Community College Foundation Board; Portland Symphony Orchestra Board of Trustees; South Portland Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees; Maine State Ethics Commission; Portland Conservatory of Music and The Maine Movers. She has also served as treasurer on the Maine Heritage Policy Board (MHPC) as well as the Maine Educational Services Board (MES). A graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School Marvin attended Interlochen Arts Academy and later earned a degree in Political Science and a degree in Policy Studies from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and a Masters in Public Policy from Muskie School at the University of Maine. She is also a graduate of Community Leadership Institute (CLI) and Institute for Civic Leadership (ICL). Marvin and her husband Bob of 29 years are the proud parents of three. “While my name is the one on the plaque the people who are responsible for the award are the men and women who come to work at The Nonantum each day with a smile and the belief that hospitality is indeed endless” stated Marvin as she accepted the award.
