Dugal presented Nicole Bosarge of Greater Portland Habitat for Humanity with a $17000 check representing the proceeds from this year’s fundraiser to be divided among the Maine chapters of the organization to help build homes for deserving Maine families. Hospitality for Habitat is a spring program which allows guests to stay at participating Maine Innkeepers’ properties for 50% off the regular room rate in exchange for a $35 dollar donation check written out to Habitat for Humanity. The Maine Innkeepers Association has collected close to $100000 in donation checks over the program’s nine year history to help build homes all over the state. “I am delighted that once again Innkeepers and their guests have been so generous in their support for this fundraising program” stated Dugal. “I have great hopes that next year in our tenth anniversary for Hospitality for Habitat we will hit the $20000 mark in donations for this great cause.” Gail Philips General Manager of Village by the Sea in Wells and her staff raised over $4000 followed by the Beachmere Inn in Ogunquit at $2475 and the Newcastle Inn with $1245 and the Camden Riverhouse with $1220. “Every donation is important” stated Dugal. “Of note this year first time participant Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit raised $1075 while The Flagship Inn in Boothbay Harbor built and sold birdhouses and the Hawthorn Inn in Camden had a raffle adding a little creativity to the program.” About the Maine Innkeepers Association The Maine Innkeepers Association a leading provider of tourism information to both Maine’s lodging industry and its visitors represents nearly 700 B&Bs camps cottages hotels inns motels and resorts across Maine and their suppliers.
